SunCubes Signs Strategic Investment Agreement with NUBURU to Advance Optical Control Systems and Wireless Energy Transmission
The agreement supports SunCubes’ development of laser-based wireless power systems and creates the basis for industrial cooperation with NUBURU and Lyocon in photonics integration.
Milan, June 10, 2026 – SunCubes, an Italian deep-tech company developing laser-based wireless energy transmission systems, has signed a strategic investment agreement with NUBURU, Inc. for a planned investment of up to €1 million.
Prior to the agreement with Nuburu, SunCubes already closed a €1.1 million round jointly led by RoboIT, the National Technology Transfer Hub for robotics and industrial automation, established on the initiative of CDP Venture Capital and Pariter Partners, and by CrossConnect, a program of CDP Venture Capital’s National Accelerator Network, with co-investors Plug and Play Tech Center and ELIS.
The agreement with Nuburu is structured in stages and is intended to support SunCubes’ continued development of optical power systems for remote infrastructure, autonomous platforms, and partner-integrated applications.
Through the agreement, SunCubes and NUBURU will explore industrial cooperation around laser-source integration, photonics engineering, beam control, pointing and tracking, safety logic, and optical power management. The cooperation is expected to involve Lyocon, NUBURU’s Italian laser-engineering and manufacturing subsidiary, as a potential industrial and photonics integration partner.
SunCubes develops the control layer of optical power: the systems, software, control logic, and integration layer required to point, track, stabilize, manage, and safely deliver optical power over distance.
The company’s technology roadmap includes SunCubes Light, designed for static wireless power delivery to remote sensors, cameras, and IoT nodes, and SunCubes Lucy, a reconfigurable laser power transmission unit designed for dynamic optical power delivery, including drone recharging and ground-to-ground links.

The investment will support SunCubes’ technical roadmap, including product development, system integration, testing, and industrial preparation. It also strengthens the company’s position as it works to bring laser-based wireless power transmission from R&D into field-relevant applications.
For SunCubes, the agreement represents a further step toward its broader vision: making light a new utility layer for energy transmission, enabling cable-free autonomy in environments where batteries, cables, or solar panels are impractical, expensive, or operationally limiting.
